SCHMETZ Twin Universal Needle 4.0 nm 80/12

The universal twin needle can be used with all conventional domestic sewing machines with zigzag functionality.

With the universal twin needle, you can transform garments and accessories into beautifully decorated pieces: use two top threads to sew two parallel decorative seams at the same time. You can also quickly sew pintucks with the universal twin needle and a pintuck foot, without the need to iron the pintucks.

Thanks to the slightly rounded points, the universal twin needle can be used with a wide variety of fabrics without issues.

Before sewing
The universal twin needle is inserted into the needle bar like any other household needle: from your perspective, the flat part of the shank points away from you.

The needle plate and presser foot must have a recess large enough for the distance between the needles and the selected stitch width.

Threading the needle
A separate spool of thread is required for each of the two needles. If you do not have a second spool holder, use a bobbin for the second thread and place it on the spool holder under the thread spool containing the first thread.

Ensure that the bobbin and the thread spool are unwound in the same direction.

You can use the same thread colour for both needles or different colours for decorative effects.

Thread both threads through your machine's guide elements together, as if they were a single thread. Then, separate the threads and thread one thread through each eye. Some machines have special tools to separate the threads. In this case, follow your machine's specific threading instructions.

Note:
The automatic needle threader does not work with twin needles!
