SCHMETZ Universal Twin Needle 6.0 size 100/16
The extra-wide universal twin needle can be used with conventional domestic sewing machines with a zigzag function and a maximum stitch width of at least 6 mm.
With the extra-wide universal twin needle, you can sew two exactly parallel elastic seams on the upper side of the seam simultaneously, using two upper threads on your normal domestic sewing machine. This has proven particularly effective when topstitching elastic waistbands on trousers or skirts: it prevents the elastic from slipping while maintaining its elasticity.
Thanks to the slightly rounded points, the extra-wide universal twin needle can be used with a wide variety of fabrics without problems. The needle size 100/16 ensures high stability and prevents breakage.
Before sewing
The extra-wide universal twin needle can be used on conventional domestic sewing machines that have a zigzag function and a needle plate and presser foot with recesses of at least 6 mm wide.
The extra-wide universal twin needle is inserted into the needle bar like other domestic needles: from your perspective, the flat part of the shank points away from you.
Threading the needle
A separate spool of thread is required for each of the two needles. If you do not have a second thread holder, use a bobbin for the second thread and place it on the spool holder under the thread spool that holds the first thread.
Make sure that the bobbin and the thread spool unwind in the same direction.
Thread both threads through your machine's guide elements together, as if they were a single thread. Then separate the threads and thread one thread through each eyelet. Some machines have special tools for separating the threads. In this case, follow your machine's specific threading instructions.
Note:
The automatic threader does not work with twin needles!
