The medium ball point displaces the fabric fibres and penetrates between the interlacings. This allows the needle to penetrate thick, dense fabrics more easily without damaging the material. It also requires less penetration force, resulting in fewer needle breakages.

The special blade design ensures high needle stability, thus reducing breakage and skipped stitches.

This makes it easier to handle even thick layers of fabric.
