SCHMETZ Double Needle Lance and Normal 2.5 No. 100/16
The Hemstitch Twin Needle allows you to create traditional hemstitches on fine fabrics such as batiste or linen in no time. There is no need to manually tighten the thread, as is the case with handmade hemstitch embroidery.
The Hemstitch Twin Needle combines a Hemstitch Needle with a Universal Needle. The hemstitch effect is achieved by the needle's "wings," which push the fabric threads aside. The Universal Needle creates a second parallel seam.
For best results, use a decorative stitch where the needle pierces the same hole multiple times. On some sewing machines, these stitches are already marked as hemstitches.
The Hemstitch Twin Needle can be used on conventional domestic sewing machines with a zigzag function.
Before sewing
Like other household needles, the hemstitch twin needle is also inserted into the needle bar: from your perspective, the flat part of the shank points away from you.
The needle plate and presser foot must have a large enough recess for the selected needle spacing plus the stitch width.
Threading the needle
A separate thread spool is required for each of the two needles. If you do not have a second thread holder, use a bobbin for the second thread and place it on the spool holder under the thread spool containing the first thread. Make sure that the bobbin and the thread spool unwind in the same direction.
Thread both threads through your machine's guide elements together, as if they were a single thread. Then, separate the threads and thread one thread through each eye. Some machines have special tools for separating the threads. In this case, follow your machine's specific threading instructions.
Note:
The automatic needle threader does not work with twin needles!
