SCHMETZ Twin Stretch Needle 4.0 size 75/11
With the elastic twin needle, you can create professional-looking seams on your t-shirts and other knitted garments – even without using a coverstitch machine: using your ordinary household sewing machine, you can sew two perfectly parallel elastic seams at the same time, using two top threads in the top seam.
The needle's medium ballpoint tip ensures that the loops are gently pushed aside without being damaged. This helps prevent holes. Thanks to its special shank, the needle sits closer to the hook. In combination with the special scarf area, this prevents skipped stitches, even on very elastic knits.
Note: The bar color is now red (previously blue). The technical properties of the needle are not affected by the color change.
Before sewing
The elastic twin needle can be used on conventional household sewing machines with a zigzag function. Like other household needles, it is also inserted into the needle bar: from your point of view, the flat part of the shank points away from you.
The needle plate and presser foot must have a large enough recess for the selected needle distance.
Threading the needle
A separate spool of thread is required for each of the two needles. If you don't have a second thread holder, use a bobbin for the second thread and place it on the spool holder under the thread spool that holds the first thread.
Make sure that the bobbin and thread spool unwind in the same direction.
Thread both threads together through your machine's guide element as if they were one. Then separate the threads and thread one thread through each eyelet. Some machines have special tools for separating the threads. In this case, follow your machine's specific threading instructions.
Note:
The automatic threader does not work with twin needles!
