SCHMETZ Double Needle Stretch 2.5 size 75/11
With the elastic twin needle, you can create professional-looking seams on your T-shirts and other garments made of jersey – even without using a coverstitch machine: using your ordinary household sewing machine, you can sew two perfectly parallel elastic seams at the same time, using two top threads in the top seam.
The medium ball point of the needle ensures that the loops are gently pushed aside without being damaged. This helps to prevent holes. Thanks to its special shank, the needle sits closer to the hook. In combination with the special scarf area, this prevents skipped stitches, even on very elastic jersey.
Please note: The bar colour is now red (it used to be blue). The technical properties of the needle are not affected by the change of colour.
Before sewing
The elastic twin needle can be used on conventional household sewing machines with a zigzag function. Like other household needles, it is also inserted into the needle bar: from your point of view, the flat part of the shank points away from you.
The needle plate and presser foot must have a large enough recess for the selected needle spacing.
Threading the needle
A separate thread spool is required for each of the two needles. If you do not have a second spool holder, use a bobbin for the second thread and place it on the spool pin under the thread spool holding the first thread.
Make sure that the bobbin and the thread spool are unwound in the same direction.
Guide the two threads together through the guide element of your machine as if they were one. Then separate the threads and thread one thread through each eye. Some machines have special tools for separating the threads. In this case, please follow your machine’s specific threading instructions.
Please note:
The automatic needle threader does not work with twin needles!
