The vertical metal bobbin case is the part where the bobbin is inserted in oscillating hook machines (front-loading system). When this holder wears out or the tension spring gives way, the machine starts to loop the thread, break the thread, or create uneven stitches.

This is the versatile replacement bobbin case with a wider thread exit slot, specifically designed to allow the needle to oscillate in zigzag stitches without hitting the metal. It is the standard part that equips both old classic machines and the popular modern entry-level mechanical machines from Singer and other brands.
