The gathering foot is an accessory for overlock machines, designed to create decorative gathers quickly and uniformly on light to medium weight fabrics. This foot allows for two operations in a single step: it can simply gather a single layer of fabric or, thanks to its special design, gather the bottom layer of fabric while simultaneously sewing it to an upper layer that remains flat.

This dual function saves immense time on sewing projects such as ruffled skirts, children's dresses, home decor, or voluminous sleeves, as the machine gathers, joins the two pieces, overlocks, and trims excess fabric all in one fluid motion. The foot also features an adjustable side guide controlled by a screw, allowing for greater control over seam allowance alignment.
