The elastic foot is a specialized accessory that greatly simplifies and speeds up the application of elastic to garments. It has a small adjustable numbered tension roller or knob on top, which allows you to set the exact level of stretch you want to give the elastic as you sew it. This way, the foot automatically pulls, stretches, and guides the elastic (with widths between 6 mm and 12 mm) uniformly, without you having to pull it by hand.
It is the ideal tool for making garments where the elastic needs to be enclosed and consistently gather the fabric, being extremely used in activewear, swimwear, lingerie, trouser waistbands or ruffled sleeves. To use it, simply fit the elastic into the slot corresponding to its width, adjust the tension knob, select a zigzag stitch on the machine, and sew.

Engaging the IDT while using this presser foot is crucial to ensure that the fabric under the elastic advances at the correct speed while the elastic is being stretched.
